Our Reception classes had a really magical day learning all about butterflies at the RHS Garden Wisley. In the morning they took part in a workshop where they learnt about the fascinating lifecycle of a butterfly, made butterfly crowns and planted the seeds of plants which attract butterflies. In the afternoon they escaped the cold January weather in the Glasshouse, which is a rainforest-like tropical zone, filled with huge leaves and flowers including banana plants, floating wetland plants, bromeliads and palm trees. The Glasshouse is home to many species of free-flying, exotic butterflies, some of them quite huge, and a few of the children were lucky enough to have a butterfly land on them. It was a day to remember!
