St George’s has been rated ‘excellent’ in all areas by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), following an inspection visit at the end of November 2022.
The ISI’s official report, issued today to parents, staff and governors of St George’s, confirms the school’s full compliance with the Independent School Standards, in addition to judgements relating to the school’s educational quality, focusing on the key outcomes of student achievement and personal development, with the school achieving the highest rating of ‘excellent’ in all areas.
Commentary provided in support of the findings included that students demonstrate ‘excellent levels of academic achievement as a result of teachers’ high expectations and nurturing pastoral care”, as well as “extremely high levels of self confidence and self-awareness’. ‘The knowledge, skills and understanding of pupils develop extremely well as they progress through the school, benefiting from high quality resources, a challenging and engaging curriculum, and passionate teaching,’ the report continues.
The findings take into account evidence from lessons and co-curricular activities observed between 29 November and 1 December 2022, along with discussions with students, staff and governors and feedback provided by parents through an anonymised survey.
“We are incredibly proud of the ISI’s findings,” commented William Goldsmith, head at St George’s School Windsor Castle. “Achieving the highest possible rating is a clear validation of our vision for students to be ‘real world ready’. I am especially pleased with the acknowledgement that there is a robust ethos throughout the school which successfully encourages individuality, creativity, responsibility and independence, something which underpins the very essence of our school community.”
The inspection report comes just a week after the school announced that they had been included in The Good Schools Guide, the first co-ed prep in the Royal Borough to feature.
“To receive such strong endorsements from two separate, highly reputable independent organisations in quick succession is an incredible testament to our entire school community, especially our outstanding staff,” Goldsmith added.
