Three Year 8 students from St George’s School Windsor Castle recently performed for a television audience of millions as they took to the stage as part of the prestigious Royal Variety Performance in London. Originally filmed in front of a live audience at the Royal Albert Hall on 1 December 2022, the children sang the National Anthem in front of a number of high-profile guests, including the Earl and Countess of Wessex.
The children, who are Choristers of the world-renowned Choir of St George’s Chapel, Windsor Castle, and board at the school, are fortunately no strangers to a big occasion. As well as singing in regular services in the Chapel, the Choir has also performed at multiple major royal events, including most recently, the exceptionally poignant Committal Service for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.
For anyone keen to follow in the children’s footsteps, the closing date is fast approaching for applications for the Choir’s Chorister for a Day programme. This provides a wonderful opportunity for girls and boys aged 6-8, along with their parents, to experience a day as a chorister prior to auditions in February. A Choristership develops not only musical talent, but also nurtures key skills such as leadership, team work, and time management, as well as providing access to a generous scholarship for a place at St George’s School Windsor Castle.
