Trips & Events

Educational visits are an integral part of the learning experience for pupils at St George’s School and during the course of the year pupils enjoy a variety of day trips to historic sites, farms, museums, theatres and galleries to reinforce the classroom curriculum.

In the Pre-Prep School, special trips are organised to tie in with the topics and project work the children have been focussing on and have recently included Windsor Castle, the RHS Gardens at Wisley, the Florence Nightingale Museum, the Polka Theatre, Norden Farm Centre for the Arts, Wellington Country Park and the Henley River & Rowing Museum.

Pupils in Years 3 – 8 look forward to ‘Expeditions Day’ which takes places once a year, when staff and children depart for the entire day to a place of interest. This year the destinations included the Natural History Museum, Rugged Earth Adventures, Sutton Life Centre, the Chiltern Open Air Museum, Whipsnade Zoo and the Victorian Schoolroom at Guildford Museum.

From Year 5 pupils are invited to join residential expeditions which range from two-day trips to ten-day courses for older pupils. These have recently included trips to Barcelona, Méluzien near Dijon and the South of France.

St George’s pupils also participate in events such as World Book Day and regularly benefit from visits to the school by authors, travelling theatre companies, scientists and astrologists, to name but a few.
